On Saturday the 8th of November Snetterton hosted the Ginetta Winter Series. One of the up and coming stars, Geri Nicosia, was one of the talented drivers competing in the series.
Geri had only ever driven the car once before the race weekend came round, that was on the 31st of October. He was testing and racing as part of the R and J Motorsport team. Geri adapted really quickly to the car. Then on the Friday of the race weekend he was able to test the car again. When testing on Friday the 7th of November Geri showed some really good potential and he had really good pace.
On Saturday of the race weekend, qualifying didn’t go the way Geri wanted it to, he only managed to do one flying lap due to other people crashing and safety cars having to be deployed. He ended qualifying in 6th place. In race one Geri started in 6th place, he had some great battles including one with Billy Monger. Then Geri went on battling his way through, but then got himself collected in an incident towards the end of the race and it dropped him from 6th place to 9th. Then in race two he started 9th, again he had some really good battles and pushed his way forward through the pack and finished the race in 5th place. Throughout the two races Geri learnt a lot about the championship and even more about the car.
On Sunday, Geri ended the qualifying session in 9th place. Race one came around, he started in 9th place on the grid. Again Geri had some brilliant battles and managed to finish the first race in 4th. For race two Geri started in fourth place on the grid. He battled with quite a few competitors and he ended race two with a podium finish after coming in third.
