During the Free Practice sessions for the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge it was championship leader Ollie Chadwick setting the fastest times during both sessions. During free practice one Chadwick only completed five laps of the Croft circuit but he was still 0.703 seconds clear of second placed Nick Zapolski at the flag. He went on to increase the gap in the second session as he finished the session with a 1.242 seconds gap over Andy Richardson. The Richardson Racing driver was strong and very competitive during both sessions even after he had only collected the loaned Ginetta G40 GT5 Challenge car from Ginetta on Thursday. The team did an amazing job to get the car set up and prepared ready for the two practice sessions and he repaid them by staying at the sharp end of the timing screens.

Both Jack Minshaw and Jac Constable rounded out the top five on the timing screens during session one whilst in the second session it was Tom Hibbert, who is usually seen in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup who finished third in the second session with AM driver Ian Robinson just behind in fourth.

There were three drivers missing from the practice sessions, those drivers being R&J Motorsport’s Jonathan and Ryan Hadfield and TCR’s Matt Chapman. The three used to race in the Ginetta Junior championship which means they have years of experience around the Croft circuit.
