Rory Collingbourne set the pace of the first practice session for the Renault UK Clio Cup at Croft circuit. Second place on the timing screens was Mike Bushell with Paul Streather in third. It was a late flying lap from Collingbourne that pushed him up into first with a lap time of 1:32.535. Mike Bushell was just 0.178 seconds behind Collingbourne in second. The gaps between positions were closer than ever and the top thirteen positions on the timing screens were covered by less than one second. Finesse Motorsport’s Paul Streather was just 0.087 seconds behind Bushell. Ecomotive backed driver Daniel Rowbottom was behind in fourth just 0.069 seconds behind teammate Streather with JamSport driver Ant Whorton Eales following behind with just 0.043 seconds of a gap. Behind Whorton-Eales was Ciceley driver Max Coates with a gap of 0.044 seconds.
Rounding out the top ten on the timing screens were Pyro drivers David Dickenson and Josh Price with just 0.085 seconds between the two, followed by 4Front Motor Group with WDE’s Paul Rivett just 0.037 seconds between he and Price, finally JamSport’s Luke Kidsley took tenth place just 0.030 behind Rivett.
In eleventh place was Team Pyro’s Senna Proctor with a gap of 0.031 seconds from tenth placed Kidsley. Twelfth place was Charlie Ladell just 0.003 behind Proctor with Lee Pattison behind in thirteenth but just 0.025 seconds apart. Fourteenth place was Cooksport’s George Jackson with a gap of 0.330 behind teammate Pattison with Ciceley’s Ollie Pidgley behind in fifteenth by 0.278 seconds. The final three on the live timing screens were Ciceley Racing’s Dan Zelos who was just 0.023 seconds behind teammate Pidgley with WDE’s Rory Green close behind in seventeenth with a gap of 0.248. Paint Perfect Motorsport’s Anton Spires finished the session in eighteenth, 0.756 behind Green.
