Scuderia Ferrari have confirmed they will be keeping Kimi Raikkonen at their team for the 2017 season alongside Sebastian Vettel. They announced the news ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix. There was a lot of speculation regarding Raikkonen’s future but Ferrari have shown their faith in the talented driver for another year. The Finnish driver will be racing in his 100th Grand Prix this weekend with the Maranello based team this weekend. Raikkonen has been off the pace of his teammates since he returned to Ferrari but the bosses still believe he had the pace to battle against Vettel and the Mercedes drivers as they have extended his contract. Sebastian Vettel had already been secured for the 2017 season, the Ferrari team put an end to rumours with the likes of Sergio Perez and Romain Grosjean being linked with the Ferrari seat. They put an end to the speculation by announcing Raikonnen will be staying with the team. They made the big announcement on Friday morning ahead of the first free practice session at Silverstone. At the age of 36 and with having 240 race starts under his belt, Raikkonen brings extremely valuable experience to the team and it is shown that he has a good relationship with teammate Vettel. Will we see Raikkonen being more competitive this weekend or in the coming Grand Prixs?
