Ashley Sutton drove the wheels off of his MG6 to top the times during the second free practice session of the weekend at Silverstone. Rain affected the earlier practice session where times fell under the one-minute barrier. The second forty-minute session was a lot drier, the rookie denied Adam Morgan a sweep of topping both sessions in a row. The Triple Eight driver Sutton headed the very closely fought session by just 0.071 seconds. Aiden Moffat was the only driver absent from the session due to having a new engine installed. The field was separated by just 1.806 seconds. The time that put Sutton on top was a 58.589. he headed Tom Ingram, after the latter left it until the last lap to put in his quickest time to demote Adam Morgan to third.

Aron Smith for Team BKR finished the practice session in fourth ahead of Handy Motorsport’s Rob Austin in fifth. Power Maxed Racing’s Hunter Abbott enjoyed a strong showing by finishing the session in sixth with teammate Kelvin Fletcher finishing in fourteenth. Fletcher finished ahead of the likes of Gordon Shedden, Rob Collard and Jason Plato. Shedden finished in nineteenth, Collard in twenty-first and Plato in twenty-second.

Seventh on the timing screens was Motorbase’s Andrew Jordan with MG’s Josh Cook in eighth ahead of RCIB Insurance Racing’s Jake Hill after spinning at Copse to finish ninth. Eurotech’s Martin Depper finished in tenth. Team BMR’s Colin Turkington was the highest placed Subaru in eleventh. Championship leader Sam Tordoff finished the session in twelfth.
