TCR’s Dave Wooder set the pace during the final qualifying session of the 2016 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship. He was one of five drivers within contention for the pole spot throughout the session. The session had to be stopped part way through after Anthony Ayres had an off. Wooder lost one of his lap times due to exceeding track limits but hit back with a strong 1:48.371.
HHC’s Lewis Brown and Elite Motorsport’s Harry King set an identical lap time of 1:48.617, due to Brown setting the time first he takes the other front row spot. Sebastian Priaulx secured fourth place on the grid alongside King. Both rookie drivers had qualified ahead of leading rookie cup driver Daniel Harper. The Douglas Motorsport driver qualified in sixth. The top ten drivers were split by a second at the flag, one being TCR’s Jordan Collard who had his best qualifying of the season in ninth.
JHR Development’s Seb Perez qualified in fifth, Douglas Motorsport’s Stuart Middleton took seventh ahead of HHC’s Charlie Fagg in eighth. JHR Development’s Geri Nicosia qualified in tenth. Olli Caldwell finished the session in eleventh ahead of Connor Grady. Elite Motorsport’s Tom Wood managed to qualify in thirteenth ahead of JHR Development’s Harry Dyson. HHC’s Charlie Digby took fifteenth ahead of Rob Boston Racing’s Greg Johnson. Rounding out the qualifiers were JHR Development’s Jenson Dineen and Mectech’s Anthony Ayres.
