Suffolk racer Jay Daniels is still searching to find some sponsorship backing to help him to race in the BRSCC Quaife Fiesta Championship for the full 2017 season. The youngster has been invited back to compete with the Race Car Consultants team by team boss David Ellesley. David has seen a lot of potential from the experienced kart racer and would love to have him back racing with them for a full season as he feels he can help Jay gain in confidence and experience.

The first time Jay had ever stepped into a race car was on the 12th of August with David Ellesley as his instructor. From the first session David had sat in the passenger seat with Jay driving he could see the potential the youngster  had as he was getting to grips with the car quickly as well as learning the Silverstone National circuit. Jay had never stepped into a race car before this test day and had also never drove the Silverstone circuit.

Jay’s first race weekend took place at Silverstone on the National circuit on the 27th/28th of August. He competed with the Race Car Consultants team in a Fiesta ST racing in the BRSCC Quaife Fiesta Championship because of the close racing he had seen when he spectated at Snetterton. All throughout the race weekend at Silverstone Jay was improving his lap times during every session he participated in. He qualified in tenth for race one and eleventh for race two. Race one took place in torrential rain, Jay was involved in an incident on track when trying to move into fourth when another competitor aquaplaned and hit Jay sending him spinning. He managed to carry on and finish the race in eighth despite some damage to the car. Jay finished race two of the weekend in fourteenth.

Jay then competed in the BRSCC Quaife Fiesta Championship at Brands Hatch as part of the Formula Ford Festival weekend. The race weekend took place on the 22nd/23rd of October. He had never driven the Brands Hatch circuit until the Friday prior to the race weekend but he had never been to Brands Hatch before to even spectate. He arrived at Brands Hatch on Thursday 20th October to have a look around the circuit ahead of the test day. He went on to qualify in sixteenth for both races. For race one Jay managed to finish in thirteenth place. In race two Jay was diving up the inside of a competitor to take thirteenth when they cut across and hit into Jay when he had pulled alongside the other car. Jay was able to carry on and finish the race in thirteenth with a slightly damaged car.

He is now looking to gain even more experience in car racing by competing for a whole season with the Race Car Consultants team. To make this happen he is in need of sponsorship, Jay has already proven he can be a front running driver as he did at Silverstone.
