As you all know the 2017 season has been very tough for Lucas Orrock, rolling twice and having no luck…switching from JamSport to Team Pyro.
Lucas headed to Snetterton, located in Norfolk for his home round of the UK Clio Cup on Friday 28th July to participate in two practice sessions ahead of the weekend. In the opening practice session Lucas finished in a positive eighth place, 1.25 seconds off the pace off teammate Mike Bushell at the top of the times.
During free practice two Lucas managed to set a lap time of 2:07.108, just 0.508 seconds off the pace of teammate Bushell, who topped the times once again. He finished teh session in fifth place, another huge step of progress for Orrock. This filled him with confidence ahead of the weekend.
During the qualifying session Orrock managed to qualify in sixth for race one and fifth for race two…another step in the right direction in a close fought grid.
In the opening race of the weekend Orrock started in sixth and managed to take fourth place after a tough fought race. Throughout the race he was nursing a car issue with his turbo but still fought his way to secure his best finish to date in the UK Clio Cup in fourth place. That finish proves he is a great talented racer who has not lost his touch and can still be competitive. This definitely picked up Lucas’ spirits after enduring a tough start to the season.
For race two he started in fifth…knowing he is more than capable of fighting at the sharp end of the grid. Unfortunately Lucas endured a very tough frustrating race two after being hit as he exited turn two, putting him into a spin. He got the car going again but was unfortunately about ten seconds behind the pack. The pace he had was amazing, he set purple middle and third sectors during the race and was fastest overall. He made up a few places before taking the flag to secure P12. The gap to the top eight was just too big for Lucas to be able to close in on before the chequered flag came out.
Overall it was a very position yet mixed weekend for Lucas Orrock, making huge leaps forward. Focus now turns on to Rockingham on the 26th/27th of August. None of Lucas’ racing would be possible without the amazing support of Weston Homes PLC and Miltek Sport as well as the fantastic team that is Team Pyro giving Lucas the best car enabling him to prove just what he is capable of. The podium is now within his grasp and no doubt Lucas won’t stop working until he has his maiden podium.
